Kingston Point Park
The Kingston Point Park series came out of my ’09 residency at the Trolley Museum of NY. The park, adjacent to the Hudson River, was at one time a thriving tourist center and ferry terminal that serviced city weekenders in the early 20th century in New York’s first capital city, Kingston. The trolley transported these visitors to the center of town. Traces of these activities are now barely visible, as the space has been transform back to its natural state as a rich marshland. I love that a marsh is a unique ecosystem where water purification naturally takes place, inevitably cleaning the surrounding waters. As I explored the park the resulting body of paintings came as a celebration of nature’s strength, renewal, and regeneration.
